The Tackle Box · Waitlist open

Your AI is confidently wrong about stocks. Teach it to check its work.

I lost half my account in 2022 buying stories, not numbers. Now I use an AI research team that has to show its work. The Tackle Box will teach you to build your own.

Verdict: the 12× isn't usable. Unknown until the latest filing's share count and a sourced estimate are in.
The problem

Right, stale and made-up numbers look identical on screen.

AI makes stock research fast. It also makes it easy to be confidently wrong. A chatbot hands you a smooth answer full of numbers, and nothing tells you which ones are current, which are out of date, and which it invented.

None of the mistakes on the right were caught because an AI was clever. They were caught because the process makes every number carry a source and a date, and makes a second check redo the math.

01

A share count from before a merger

A popular valuation looked like a bargain until the research team checked the share count behind it. With the current count, it was a different story and a different decision.

02

A price "error" that was really a currency

Two sources disagreed on a price because one quoted a Toronto listing in Canadian dollars and the other a New York listing in US dollars.

03

Two AIs that disagreed, and were both partly wrong

Working out why surfaced a mistake in each. Either one alone would have handed over its error with full confidence.

The story

Opinions aren't a process.

I'm a regular investor with a day job, not a professional money manager. My work has always been turning messy processes into checklists and templates.

In 2022 I lost half my account and had to admit I didn't have a process. I had opinions. Last year I started asking AI about stocks and got confident answers I couldn't check. This year I built a process around it, with guardrails: a small AI research team where each AI has one job and a written rulebook it has to follow. Every number is sourced, every calculation is checked twice, and the downside is written down before I decide. One AI finds the facts, another checks the math, another argues the other side, and I make the call.

The rule that changed everything: if a number has no source and no date, it doesn't exist.
I'm not selling a track record.I won't show you returns I can't verify, and I won't promise you any. What I'm offering is the method, so you can build your own AI research team and make your own decisions.
The fishing philosophy

Investing works the way fishing does.

I'm a fisherman, and the habits that work on the water are the same ones built into the system.

Patience

Waiting for price

You don't cast at every ripple. Decide in advance what a fair price looks like, then wait for it instead of chasing.

Reading the water

Research

Know where to look before you cast: company filings first, every fact dated and sourced, every assumption labeled as one.

The right tackle

The research team and its rules

AI tools with clear jobs and a written rulebook, so the speed of AI doesn't come with made-up numbers.

Catch and release

Selling what no longer fits

When a holding stops fitting your rules, let it go on purpose, with a written note on why.

"I won't hand you a fish. I'll teach you how to fish."

What's in The Tackle Box

A kit and short course for building your own AI research team.

When complete, The Tackle Box will include short videos, worksheets and templates that walk you through setting up the team in the AI tools you already use. Every role works from one rulebook that you write.

01 · gathers

Research Analyst

Pulls dated, sourced facts from filings. No source, no number.

02 · organizes

Planner

Applies your rulebook and drafts a proposal, never without a written downside review.

03 · rechecks

Risk Check

Redoes the math independently instead of trusting the first answer.

04 · argues

Second Opinion

A different AI model whose job is to argue the other side.

⚓
You make every decision. The team researches, checks and argues. It never buys or sells anything.

The course

  1. Why AI gets stocks wrong, and how to stop it
  2. Write your rulebook
  3. Build the team: roles and prompts
  4. Evidence cards: sourced, dated, labeled facts
  5. Four-scenario models to a fixed date
  6. Position sizing, cash and the downside review
  7. Running the team every week

The templates

  • Blank rulebook and decision log, for your own rules
  • Prompt pack for each team role
  • Four-scenario model spreadsheet (blank; you bring the data)
  • Evidence-card format
  • One-page downside review

Not included: stock picks, buy or sell signals, personal holdings, or any licensed data or screenshots.

FAQ

Questions

Is this financial advice?

No. Angler Investing is education about a research method. I'm not a registered investment adviser, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.

Will you tell me what to buy?

No. There are no picks, no signals and no individual advice. The Tackle Box will teach you how to research; the decisions are yours.

What does it cost?

The waitlist and the Angler Investing newsletter, The Fishing Report, are free. A founding price for The Tackle Box will be announced to the waitlist first.

What if I pre-order and it doesn't ship?

The kit isn't finished yet. If a founding pre-order opens, it will come with a stated delivery date, and if the kit doesn't ship by then, you get a full refund.

Do you own the stocks you talk about?

Sometimes. When I discuss a company I hold, I'll say so.

Which AI tools do I need?

The method works with the general-purpose AI assistants most people already use. The course will show the setup step by step; you don't need to code.

Is Angler Investing made with AI?

How this is made: AI tools help research and draft content, some videos may use an AI-generated voice, and automated tools help publish, so not every piece is reviewed by a person before it goes out. The author sets the rules, spot-checks the output, and makes every investment decision.
